ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਣਕ ਦੀ ਫ਼ਸਲ ਦੀ ਵਾਢੀ ਲਈ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਤਿਆਰੀਆਂ ਵਿਚਾਲੇ ਅੱਜ ਬਾਅਦ ਦੁਪਹਿਰ ਅਚਾਨਕ ਪਏ ਮੀਂਹ ਅਤੇ ਗੜਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਸੂਬੇ ਦੇ ਅੱਧਾ ਦਰਜਨ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਫ਼ਸਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਖੇਤਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਢੀ ਲਈ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਤਿਆਰ ਖੜ੍ਹੀ ਕਣਕ ਦੀ ਫ਼ਸਲ ਮੀਂਹ ਤੇ ਤੇਜ਼ ਹਵਾਵਾਂ ਕਾਰਨ ਵਿਛ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਾਲ ਭਰ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਨਤ ’ਤੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਪਿਛਲੇ 8-10 ਦਿਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸੂਬੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਹੀ ਹਾਲਾਤ ਬਣੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।
Amidst ongoing preparations for the wheat harvest in Punjab, sudden rain and hailstorms this afternoon have caused massive damage to crops across half a dozen districts. The wheat crop, standing perfectly ready for harvest, was flattened by rain and strong winds, seemingly washing away the farmers' year-long hard work. Similar unpredictable weather conditions have prevailed in the state for the last 8-10 days.
ਅੱਜ ਸਵੇਰੇ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਮੌਸਮ ਸਾਫ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਧੁੱਪ ਖਿੜੀ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ ਪਰ ਦੁਪਹਿਰ ਹੁੰਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਅਸਮਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਲੇ ਬੱਦਲ ਛਾ ਗਏ। ਅਚਾਨਕ ਆਈ ਤੇਜ਼ ਹਨੇਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੀਂਹ ਨੇ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਭਲਣ ਦਾ ਮੌਕਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਕਈ ਇਲਾਕਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੜਿਆਂ ਕਾਰਨ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ 'ਤੇ ਸਫ਼ੇਦ ਚਾਦਰ ਵਿਛ ਗਈ, ਜਿਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਪੱਕੀ ਹੋਈ ਕਣਕ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ 'ਤੇ ਡਿੱਗ ਪਈ।
Although the weather was clear and sunny this morning, dark clouds covered the sky by afternoon. A sudden intense storm and downpour left farmers with no time to react. In many areas, a thick white sheet of hail covered the ground, completely flattening the golden, ripened wheat crops.

ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ: ਮਾਲਵਾ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਰਾਬੀ ਕਾਰਨ ਇੱਕ ਲੱਖ ਏਕੜ ਦੇ ਕਰੀਬ ਫ਼ਸਲ ਦੇ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਦਾ ਅਨੁਮਾਨ ਸੀ।

ਅੱਜ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਰ: ਅੱਜ ਦੀ ਗੜੇਮਾਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਇਹ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਦੁੱਗਣਾ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਦਸ਼ਾ ਜਤਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
Today's Havoc: Following today's severe hailstorm, agricultural experts fear the total damage estimate will easily double.
ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ: ਖੇਤੀਬਾੜੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਦਾ ਜਾਇਜ਼ਾ ਲੈਣ (Girdawari) ਲਈ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਵਾਰ ਸੂਬੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਰੀਬ 34 ਲੱਖ ਹੈਕਟੇਅਰ ਰਕਬੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਣਕ ਦੀ ਬਿਜਾਂਦ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।
Govt Action: Agriculture department officials have immediately initiated action to assess the damage (Girdawari). For context, wheat has been sown across 34 lakh hectares in the state this season.
ਮੌਸਮ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਨੇ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਹੋਰ ਵਧਾ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ। ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੀ ਤਾਜ਼ਾ ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ 7 ਅਤੇ 8 ਅਪਰੈਲ ਨੂੰ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁੜ ਮੌਸਮ ਖ਼ਰਾਬ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ 40 ਤੋਂ 50 ਕਿਲੋਮੀਟਰ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਘੰਟੇ ਦੀ ਰਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਤੇਜ਼ ਹਵਾਵਾਂ ਚੱਲਣ ਅਤੇ ਗੜੇ ਪੈਣ ਦੀ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਚਿਤਾਵਨੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਪਿਛਲੇ 24 ਘੰਟਿਆਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਫ਼ਾਜ਼ਿਲਕਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ 24.5 ਐੱਮ.ਐੱਮ. ਮੀਂਹ ਦਰਜ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
The Meteorological Department has added to the farmers' distress. According to the department's latest bulletin, the weather in Punjab may turn extremely bad again on April 7 and 8. A strict warning of strong winds blowing at 40 to 50 km/h accompanied by hailstorms has been issued. Over the last 24 hours, Fazilka recorded the highest rainfall in the state at 24.5 mm.
